A Special Note From Bill

To answer all the questions about where I have been during the last 12 weeks……three hospital stays later and a heart that thought it was in an Olympic race.

All your prayers and good wishes filled my heart with so much caring and energy that after having 10 strokes caused by my irregular 300/bpm heartbeat, the doctors were finally able to slow it down.

Because of the continuing muscle damage as my heart raced on, a life changing decision was made to give my heart electric shocks to hopefully return it to a normal rhythm. When I woke after being supercharged, I could tell everything was different.

I had tried something totally unknown to me, relying on outside experts in my community. The result: My heartbeat is now smooth, relaxed, stabilized at 62 beats per minute, and my heart is now healing each day.

My thanks and warmest appreciation to each member of my community who contributed medical expertise, heartfelt caring, offers of continuing support, and family love.

5 Job Search Landmines Your Competition is Stepping On

There are many stories of a talented applicant choosing to display a self-centered and arrogant image during the traditional job search. A few minutes ago I viewed a CBS 20/20 broadcast where an unemployed job applicant said, “I have a college degree and have had success in business, so I am not applying for lower level work.” Any person choosing to help that person get a job risks having their judgment questioned when the attitude comes out. When a jobseeker behaves this badly on TV, all we can do is scratch our head and wonder, “Don’t they get how they come across?”

Before we review mistakes your competitors make every day, let’s look at something I’m sure you are doing right. Little kids learn, “Mind Your Manners for Your Whole Life!. However, your competition doesn’t always remember the rule like you do. What should the Hiring Manager think, If an applicant’s body language communicates they’re unhappy or aggravated with things like: having to go through a fourth round of interviews; having to reschedule their doctor appointment to meet for a follow-up interview, and being asked if they could stay overnight out of town to work on some project. Always using good manners puts you far ahead of any candidate unable to totally control their emotions.

Let’s go over five specific behavior no-no’s that can blow up when building relationships with opportunity gatekeepers and Hiring Managers (“HM”).

1. Not understanding the HM’s needs in the process – Your competition is focusing on the needs of a position and how, by filling that need, they will make the HM happy. However, filling a currently defined need within the organization is always a risk to the HM because hiring the wrong person makes their judgment look bad and damages their long term respect within the entire organization. Your competition doesn’t realize they must quickly and clearly show the HM the benefits they can deliver, specifically how those benefits help the HM personally, and how committed they are to delivering those benefits over the next 90 days. Lucky for you the competition is focused on the wrong thing!

2. Believing it’s all about you – Your competitors go into an interview with a mindset of, “I have to get them to like me – love me – hire me” so I have to impress with my accomplishments. The organization won’t be impressed with what you did for someone else, using different systems, to achieve different goals, in a different environment………….you get the point. This attitude often goes hand-in-hand with the previous mistake. After you are hired, in response to a new business development, they may ask you to do something that was not even part of the hiring decision. Lucky for you, the competition is focused on discussing, “What will I be doing in this position, rather than how can I best help you achieve today’s most important goal?”

3. Assuming other employees want to help you achieve your personal goals – Other employees are all CEO’s of their own business – Me, Inc. and work hard every day on improving their own future. Your competitors are wondering how those employees can be used to help with the hiring/advancement process. Lucky for you the other employees hate your competitors who use, rather than help them.

4. Expecting responses on your timetable – Your competition focuses on how miserable they are feeling when they are waiting for news of the next step. They totally forget that the HM is only interviewing because they don’t have enough resources to get their existing work done. Hiring someone is an additional work load that creates a “BE CAREFUL!” environment (see #1). Other applicants will call attention to your patient and professional approach by their calling, emailing, and “in the neighborhood and stopped by” actions that project a lack of self-confidence and desperation. Lucky for you they believe when it comes to follow-up, more is better.

5. Applying for a “job” – If you’re looking for the landmine that most often blows up destroying any chance of your competition getting in ahead of you, you just found it. Those four innocent looking little words – “Applying for a job” – have sunk so many opportunity ships while the applicants were standing on the dock waiting for their ship to come in. The Traditional Hiring System demands that a written legal description of the tasks being discussed with the applicant be prepared. Your competitors want to match up each of the tasks with a previous accomplishment to show a “good fit”. They completely miss that the HM may know the needed work activity does not match the task list, as often happens when there isn’t time to update an out-of-date job description. Most importantly, the competition shouts to the HM, “I don’t care if you have plans or dreams that are bigger than the job I am applying for, even though I am a resource that would make that dream possible. Lucky for you!
Your job search journey will be impacted by many outside forces. You choose to self confidently project a quality resource that any organization would be proud to have. Some are a better fit than others, but you are valuable to them all.

Thank you for sharing this post with someone who would benefit from this job search info. I’m sure they would appreciate it!

Winning Job Search Strategy

Job Search applicants are being told to focus on improving their “elevator speech” – a presentation to sell you in less than a minute. UBA does not believe the secret is in the selling. Instead, we focus on having a “Connected Conversation” with a person that clearly states their benefit of working with you. The following story was sent to me for a different reason, but it shouts, “Prepare your “Benefit Message” for the listener’s heart!”
John Rich, who is a charity activist, philanthropist, entrepreneur, winner of Donald Trump’s 2010-2011 Celebrity Apprentice and a country-western songwriter, singer, and superstar, opened up the room for questions after a keynote speech.

The first questioner asked if Rich still had his dog, Frank Sinatra Rich. Engaging him in a conversation about his dog, in seconds she had connected with something he cared about. Then, with a smooth transition, she made him an irresistible offer – a free lifetime supply of all natural Antler Dog Chews for his dog, Frank.

This founder of Scout & Zoe’s Natural Antler Dog Chews had done her research and carefully prepared. She even had her web designer create a special page just for John Rich to order and re-order his dog chews from her. She was ready for her opportunity and her conversation immediately connected.

When Rich not only accepted her generous offer, but complimented her approach and offered to promote her Antler Dog Chews to his audience, others made similar offers from everything from coaching to insurance. They sensed how great aligning themselves with Rich would be. The problem was that most of the other offers Rich received were “off the cuff”, not planned, and the people making the offers weren’t 100% sure how to align themselves with Rich to give him incentive to pair up with them.

If they had thought ahead and were prepared, how great would their opportunity have been? Think about someone of great influence telling people how much they like you and advocating the benefit of working with you. Imagine adding powerful influence to help your hiring “Breakthrough”.

For additional information on having your own “Connected Conversation”, go to United Boomers of America.

IT MUST BE MY AGE

When the outcome of some job search activity doesn’t  turn out the way we expected, most job searchers react the same way:  It’s not my fault – the (hiring system, employer, economy) isn’t fair!

After gathering every piece of information I could from 314 Hiring Managers, their feelings could also be summarized:  It’s not my fault – the (hiring system, employer, economy) isn’t fair!

After analyzing information gathered from 1,033 Baby Boomers – 62% employed (their stated feelings at time of interview was 46% underemployed, 9% miserably employed,  and 38% unemployed) during the research for United Boomers of America, their feelings about using the Traditional Hiring System to find work can be summarized:  The (hiring system, employer, economy) isn’t fair!

For the last week I have read hundreds of comments posted on internet groups that discuss Job Search, Hiring, Employment, Recruiting, and many other HR related matters.  The comments express frustration, aggravation, desperation, pain, heartache, stress and other human emotions caused by the Hiring System not working “the way I expected”.

Let’s take a simple example.  I decide on a goal, and then develop a series of activities to achieve that goal.  Now my mind has created an expectation that the goal will be accomplished if I just do the activities.  But the marketplace doesn’t care about my expectations.  When talking with a business executive about an applicant’s expectations, the response was, “So what?”  Until one of the hundreds (sometimes thousands) of applicants is chosen to become an employee of the organization, the organization has neither the time or resources to consider the expectations of an applicant.

Hundreds of Hiring Managers (301 out of 314) all stated the following – If you bring me an applicant who could clearly show they knew the organization’s culture, knew what benefit they could deliver for the organization over the next 90 days, knew that the organization needed it done during that period, and, most importantly, convinced me of their commitment to deliver that benefit to me, AGE WILL NOT BE PART OF MY DECISION TO HIRE!  Are you ready to be hired?  Find out with our FREE REPORT at United Boomers of America.  Remember what others think -

I LOVE MY AGE

          • Youth envies the experience of age.
          • Age envies the enthusiasm of youth.
          • Youth envies the wisdom of age.
          • Age envies the technological knowledge of youth.
          • Youth envies the connections of age.
          • Age envies the activity level of youth.
          • Youth envies the perspective of age.
          • Age envies the creativity of youth.
          • Youth envies the accomplishments of age.
          • Age envies the innovation of youth.
          • Youth envies the toughness of age.
          • Age envies the optimism of youth.
          • Youth wants everything to be fair,
          • Age understands everything is not fair.
          • Youth is “I can do anything for anyone” – remember when?
          • Age is doing the right thing – at the right time – for the right person.

I love my age!

JOB SEARCH SUCCESS IN 2012

Why do successful people move so quickly from opportunity to opportunity in this tough economic marketplace? What do they see that we don’t? What do they do every day so they don’t even have to do a “job search”? How are they thinking to generate a constant supply of new opportunities in front of them?

My last two years of research uncovered these four simple steps anyone can use to get a great job:

1) Ask the Right Question
Have you been asking the wrong questions? Instead of “What job can I apply for today? Each evening, write What type of job can I build today?” Each evening, write in your Victory Journal:

- What happened in your job activity today
- Was it part of your plan for today
- Why do you think it happened
- What insights did you gain about new opportunities
- Did this move you forward in your plan
- How have today’s events changed your plan for tomorr

As your thinking evolves from the traditional “What job pays the most money?”, to a more thoughtful “How can I find joy in my work activity?, to the most valuable “How can I build a work activity to fulfill the purpose of my life?”, you begin asking questions about a whole different type of opportunity. You don’t need a vacancy to be posted on a job board. You want to talk face-to-face with a person who will greatly appreciate what you can do for them over the next 90 days. The right question is, “What can I do for whom now”?

2) Find Jobs That Need to Be Done
Stop looking for jobs you didst previously. Look only for what someone needs you to do for them over the next 90 days. When people decide a job needs to be done to achieve their goal or dream, they will immediately begin searching for the resources to get the job done as efficiently as possible. By observing what is being done around you every day, you can mentally design what might make doing it easier, faster, or more profitable for them (or yourself). It is surprising how often these observations spark ideas to improve what needs to be done for people you see every day.

While visiting his local home supply centers, an out of work businessman noticed three things were missing: low prices, lots of choices, and excellent customer service. Instead of offering to help an existing center to improve their business, he decided to start his own home supply business providing the three missing pieces – and called it Home Depot. Those observations directly led to the largest home supply center in the world!

As you look around, reflect on what work activities you like the most, which ones you are the best at, and which ones do organizations already understand they need to have done for them. These activities can both create new products & services or improve existing offerings. Schedule time every day to brainstorm how you can make needed improvements in the marketplace around you.

3) Build a Job
When I was young and jobs were plentiful, I was taught how to “apply” for a job. The focus was on the application process. Today, Hiring Managers tell me they hate the whole paper clogged appliication process. All they want to know is what benefits you can deliver to them now. If you could present all your skills and resources without being boxed into applying for a single job, you might be the best solution to several needs. The most powerful opportunity is having any Hiring Manager see you as the answer to fulfill one of their personal dreams.

During your brainstorming time (see #2), make it a point to talk with people who aren’t like you. People naturally prefer to spend time with someone who appears similar to themselves. However, we learn more, expand our vision significantly, and see things differently when we listen to different points of view. As we discuss views of life with more different people, our perspective of possible ways to build a job making something better is constantly growing.

4) Do New Things to Learn New Stuff
No Hiring Manager wants you to tell them what you did in the past using the operating systems from a previous employer. New work opportunities will probably use new operating systems in new organizational cultures to achieve different specific goals. To deliver what the new opportunity requires, you will have to prove you are currently learning new things to apply in new situations to achieve new goals. In two minutes, can you make a Hiring Manager believe:

- You know current information about their organization

- You understand the systems they use

- You can help them personally over the next 90 days

- You are committed to do just that

Anyone looking for human resources to achieve their goal or dream knows this is the information that will impress them and separate you from “the others”. To learn these new things, you may have to do research you have never done before. Find a mentor/coach who is doing that type of research today and have them help you be the one that impresses.

Look into personal activities that interest you (hobbies, clubs, classes, groups) and talk with associates about how they might see those activities being used in the marketplace. Volunteering exposes you to community leaders and gives you the valuable characterization as a helpful person. You will even impress yourself with the self confidence that grows inside you every day. Many people have even raised the level of their targeted opportunity as they did new things and learned more stuff. Be at the right dock when your ship comes in!

Boomers can find more information and resources to help them be impressive at unitedboomersofamerica.com.

Nationwide “Hire Our Heroes” Project

United Boomers of America appreciates and supports ANY program that helps returning veterans re-enter what is certainly a challenging workplace. However, while the current media is patting themselves on the back for joining the Chamber of Commerce in assisting the Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, the UBA community wants to once again express frustration and aggravation that veterans of previous wars don’t seem to warrant equal effort with a highly publicized national project.
UBA has chosen the Viet Nam Veterans of America organization as our social giveback. My foster brother was shot up in the Mekong Delta and eventually died from complications caused by the wounds. It sickens me when I think about how these veterans were treated when they returned, and never forgetting that time is a good thing for us all. While reading a recent post from Bruce Krasting, titled Heroes, published February 10, 2012, I was so moved by Eddie’s story that I wanted to share some of it with you:

‘I know a man. Call him Eddie. He’s African American, going on about 63. When he was a boy he had no real home or much education, so when he was eighteen he took the only option available to him. He joined the military. That was 1967. He must have been a hell of a soldier. He ended up in the Army’s 1st Cavalry Division – one of the toughest outfits around.

In February of 1968 he fought in the battle of Hue during the Tet offensive. He was in non-stop firefights for three weeks. He said half his platoon were killed or wounded. He told me about the time he held onto a fellow soldier, while he bled to death from a sniper round through the throat.

After the Tet Offensive his tour was up, but for some stupid reason (probably a few thousand dollars) he did a second tour. In April of 1968 he went back “up country” with the 1st Cav. This time he fought in the A Shau Valley (referred to at the time as the “Valley of Death”). The fighting was as intense as any combat in history. Eddie once talked of the time that he spent a night in a bomb crater with two dead comrades while the Viet Cong were shooting AK47s with green tracers over his head. He also talked about killing the enemy in hand-to-hand combat. His buddies did the same.

Eddie walked away from the war he was sent to fight, but he was a broken man. He has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He has never been able to function properly. He is afraid of everything. On the Fourth of July he has to be sedated. He’s terrified by the noise of the fireworks. The Army never questioned that he was damaged goods, and that it was his time in battle that was responsible. They gave him antidepressants; after a while he got a half disability pension. Life was just a struggle. Eight years ago I (Bruce) banged on a bunch of doors and helped him get a full disability pension. He’s okay these days, sort of.’

I bring up Eddie’s story in connection with a new report from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). Almost one in four (21%) of our soldiers are coming home with PTSD. The CBO attempts to come up with a price for this. By its calculation, it costs an average of $10,000 per year for each soldier with PTSD. For how long? The CBO reports that 80+% of those with PTSD were still in need of treatment after four years. For Eddie, it’s been forty plus years now. Of course the CBO numbers don’t measure the real cost. What is the cost of a busted life?

“I watched my brother wither away as jungle rot infections started at the bullet holes and spread throughout his body. Can we put a $10,000 per year price on his life? Like Eddie, he fought to keep America free, and we all owe vets a debt that can never be fully paid.

As our elected officials in Washington consider our future economic responsibilities, let’s remind them that before we send millions to foreign military, we should fulfill our responsibilities to our own military – past and present. We have many choices to replace soldiers with technology in the future. We only have those choices because millions of previous vets stepped up and said they were willing to go fight so we could have those future choices. UBA is dedicated to helping the very ones who gave us the opportunity to help. Thanks Vets!

Website Launch – 3 Days and Counting

Communication is such a fragile aspect of our everyday lives. If I asked you to do something fast, your mind may immediately think in hours. The person standing next to you may default in their thinking to a concept of days. What I should have said was, “Can you do that for me in minutes?” What has turned out to be a mission critical communication issue is the work “big”.

Growing up, did you ever ask a friend if they could do something, and they responded, “No big deal.” One of our members just asked if we could add something to the new website. Then I asked the IT team, “Is it a big deal to add this now?“. They thought I was asking if they knew how to do it and said no problem. I was asking them a question of meeting the schedule. When I asked if the additional work would delay the launch, they said, “Of course, anyone would know that.” Building the UBA website the way we wanted it has take more than two years. Almost every time a problem arose, the words spoken were, “I thought you meant.”

When Kennedy made his promise, American scientists didn’t know how to get to the moon. When a new Hiring System called the BOOMER BEST WORK Breakthrough System was created, no one knew how so much information could smoothly be delivered on a website. Next week the BBW Breakthrough System will break through old website concepts at unitedboomersofamerica.com and give Boomers work tools and insights that are easier and faster to use than ever before.

The Five Biggest Reasons Your Competition Won’t Get the Job You Want in 2012

How many times have we heard, “Work Smarter, Not Harder”. Your competition may be doing more activity than you, but are they working smarter? The following mindsets are not working for your competition, they benefit you. Be happy your competition is making these mistakes:

1. They believe job searching online is the answer, the only answer

Your competition boasts that they have applied for “too many jobs to count” with hundreds of resumes, as if that were some measure of success. They quote the names of the major Job Bulletin Board websites as if knowing an online name gives them some privilege with employers. They believe using the internet for their job search makes them appear “tech smart”. The problem for them is that they are not going to be hired by the internet. Hiring Managers don’t hire electronic postings. More than 300 Hiring Managers told UBA they wanted a person to tell them – in one minute or less – how the applicant will fill the existing need of the Hiring Manager during the next 90 days. Your competition wants to tell a story about how great they are, but they don’t realize it’s not about them, it’s all about the Hiring Managers. Your competitor’s thinking should make you very happy.

2. They are embarrassed to tell others about looking for a job

With very few exceptions, all of your close contacts should know exactly what job you are looking for. Lucky for you, your competition feels that being out of work is something to be ashamed about. They look in the mirror and see failed dreams. Losing a job for them is a termination. They wish they could be like you and view being out of work as liberation – freedom to choose your BOOMER BEST WORK. Your competitors believe Hiring Managers, like their relatives, view them as damaged goods. They don’t want to “spread the word”, they want to keep it quiet until they have their new job. Aren’t you glad you don’t think like that?

3. They are looking for any job

They have focused on lifestyle for so long, they often become an expression of their lifestyle. They search Job Bulletin Boards for anything in a salary range that supports their previous lifestyle. When asked about their happiness, they say if they can earn xxxxdollars, they will be happy. Hiring managers don’t care about supporting an applicant’s lifestyle. If they sense the applicant is motivated primarily by money rather than being dedicated to help the Hiring Manager achieve his or her goals, the applicant has no chance. Your competition’s desperation pushes you to the top.

4. They don’t manage their social media image

Think your competitors don’t have a social media presence? I just Googled my name and was astounded to see more than 5,000 hits. Google your name and prepare to be surprised. Your competitors should be actively watching what is posted both by them and about them by others. Former friends may post lies, pictures, or videos to get even for perceived wrongs done to them. Employers acknowledge they check social media sites as a normal part of background checks on your competition. Isn’t it great that your competitors don’t understand how their social media image can destroy any chance of them getting the job you want.

5. They rely on a resume to tell their story

Words on a page can never convey a person’s enthusiasm, energy or personality. How can a Hiring Manager feel that an applicant relates to them personally seeing only words on a page. As long as your competitors rely on a printed history of what they have done in the past for other organizations, you are at a great advantage.

Do you think your competitors are making a different mistake that should have been included in this list. Let us know and we’ll consider revising the list.

Do You Want to Work For A Hated Company?

How much joy will be added to your life if you end up working for a company your friends or family hate. The American Customer Satisfaction Index (“ACSI”) rates companies based on thousands of consumer satisfaction surveys. In industries where competition is intense, companies must do everything to make customers happy or go out of business. If there is little competition, their attitude can be drastically different. The worst five in the current survey:

#5 Charter Communications

ACSI Rating 59 out of 100

This company is known for improper billing practices (class action settlement in 2004) and poor customer service following the closing of domestic call centers in 2006. In 2009 the company filed for bankruptcy and was forced to downsize. Charter’s rating decreased two points from last year.

#4 Comcast

ACSI Rating 59 out of 100

Complaints include poor communications to customers, poor channel delivery, long waiting time on service calls and rising prices. One of the largest cable companies, Comcast remains one of the worst for customer satisfaction. Their rating has fallen two points since last year.

#3 Time Warner Cable

ACSI Rating 59 out of 100

Customer frustrations include “caps” on customer usage, fees rising faster than inflation, fraudulent business acts and horrible service. When cable companies have no competition, they are not focused on service. Time Warner’s rating has dropped two points since last year.

#2 Delta Airlines

ACSI Rating 56 out of 100

Outrage exists over their charging for food, beverages, and baggage. Delta collected almost one billion dollars in baggage fees in 2010, almost twice as much as any other airline. Since acquiring Northwest Airlines, Delta’s rating has nosedived. Delta’s rating declined another six points this year.

AND THE WORST

#1 Pepco

ACSI Rating 54 out of 100

The Washington Post noted Potomac Electric had among the worst ratings in both power outage frequency (70% more) and length of outage (twice as long). Pepco’s satisfaction rating plummeted an amazing 16 points during the last year.

How much research do you think you should do to really understand the attitude of a potential employer?

8 – UBA Role

UBA utilizes both a well established independent research organization – Key Value Institute (“KVI”), and all available Boomer associated resources. Members’ experiences provide high quality current and relevant insight into employer attitudes as well. The source of employer information is kept strictly confidential. All information goes through a verification process and is evaluated for how it will benefit our members. In addition, UBA maintains the highest quality institutional and Governmental agency information from our internet sources.

UBA currently updates and posts Workplace News for 54 industries, keeping our UBA members informed of key changes and trends in hiring practices for the modern day workplace. UBA Workplace News combines the 4 R’s: (Research – Reflection – Review – Revise) to help you carry out your BOOMER BEST WORK Success Plan.

UBA collects independent research covering three areas of company activity affecting Boomer employment:

1) Current decisions and forces that impact company hiring trends and practices;
2) Internal reorganization of positions and functions; and

The currently investigated companies are industry leaders, but a specific company may be researched if it will benefit multiple members. UBA members can be a valuable source of validating information on these topics.

Being Thankful and Sharing Your Experiences

On this Thanksgiving I warmly remembered hundreds of Boomers who cared enough about fellow Boomers to share their experiences. They helped United Boomers of America serve the BOOMER BEST WORK needs of the Boomer community with information, insights, and recommendations To Boomers – For Boomers – By Boomers.

A way you can personally help inspire Boomers nationwide is to answer this question:

Do I know a Boomer who used to be unemployed, under-employed or miserably employed, but now they are doing work they would call their BOOMER BEST WORK? How can that knowledge help Boomers?

The second book in the eight book BOOMER BEST WORK SERIES titled “Boomer Bridges – From Here to Your BOOMER BEST WORK”. To finish the book by the end of the year, we are looking for a few more stories of Boomers who crossed the bridge from an old work situation to their new work position that not only supports them, it also brings them joy and fulfillment. If you know someone’s story that might inspire and motivate others, let us know at feedback@unitedboomersofamerica.com. This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to have their story published in a bestselling book for years to come. The contributor of a story we use will receive free life coaching for the next 6 months.

UBA Original Research

The UBA community at unitedboomersofamerica.com is helping unemployed, under-employed, and miserably employed Baby Boomers bridge from their current work situation to their BOOMER BEST WORK™. To help you understand why the UBA approach to the traditional Hiring System works so well for Boomers, this series explains eight key building blocks of the UBA community:

1 – Key Value Group (KVG) Original Research
2 – KVG Philosophy of BOOMER BEST WORK
3 – KVG “BBW Breakthrough System”
4 – UBA Philosophy
5 – UBA Organization Structure
6 – UBA Current Research Focus
7 – UBA Technology Strategy
8 – UBA Role

United Boomers of America founder, Bill Knegendorf, founded the Key Value Group (KVG) in 1986 to do consumer research in the Eastern U.S. A year later, after many overheard Baby Boomer comments that, “the hiring system isn’t working for me!”, the Traditional Hiring System Research Project began with a five question survey asking for a Boomer’s “Key Values” when evaluating either their current work situation or moving to a new work opportunity. In 2000 KVG expanded the survey to 10 questions from Boomers across the entire U.S. and added a 10 question survey for Hiring Managers.

Analysis of the information began in 2008 when the Boomer input hit 600 and the Hiring Manager input reached 200. Initial observations were refined by new survey results until 2009. The Traditional Hiring System Research Project included 10 years of in-depth research with extensive interviews beyond the survey results from 991 Boomers and 304 Hiring Managers from 42 states and 54 industries.

As a result, in 2010 KVG established a proprietary set of “Key Hiring Values” for Boomers nationwide. These Values became the foundation for two powerful concepts: BOOMER BEST WORK©, and the BOOMER BEST WORK Breakthrough System – a new approach to the “traditional hiring system” for Boomers. Both of these concepts were explained in the 2010 book, “Boomer Breakthrough – Five Energizing Steps to BOOMER BEST WORK Success (updated in the 2011 ebook version at unitedboomersofamerica.com).
